Aeronaut is on the move

We suffered through unpleasant local dust storms at Mudrock and the dust conditions at our launch site have not improved. We will be moving our site about a mile South for Aeronaut. The new site will place us on harder Playa in a slightly different wind pattern and provide increased recovery area to the North.

The new site location is approximately N40 49.586 W119 08.142. In addition to moving the site, we will be realigning the cone road. The Aeronaut cone road will head directly from the 11 & 12-mile gates toward the launch site. It will pass South of the launch site, curve north and enter the site from the East end.

The Playa that we pulverize with our vehicle traffic makes a significant contribution to the dust at our launch site. Follow the cone road when traveling in and out of the Aeronaut site and drive slowly as you approach the site. By following the road and using the East end of the site for launch/recovery traffic, we take advantage of the prevailing wind to help reduce the amount of dust we all have to live with.
