                                                                                  WHAT'S NEW

This page has our current launch schedule and our new projects

We go to a lot of launches to fly our rockets and hang around with nice people. We are always making new rockets. If they work well, the projects we're working on will make it to the Starfleet.

Launch Schedule  We got to a lot of  launches at Black Rock in 2007. The Winnebago rolled to Mudrock, Aeronaut and XPRS. We caught the Mavericks launch in July and were on the Playa for the scrubbed October competition. We will also be at most of the Lunar launches both Snow Ranch and Robertson Park.

Baddabooster  Lifted the Water Works payload filled with 18 lbs. of water and produced a pretty spectacular cloud at Hardrock (aka Mudrock) 05. The booster performed perfectly, but the cloud was so cool that we may have to make a couple more water flights before we deploy it to it's intended purpose. The nest water flight at Aeronaut may make a red cloud.

Mostly Motor  You can't win them all. Mostly Motor screamed off the pad at Hardrock 05 and looked great until it made a 90 Deg turn at around 300'. It continued, under power almost due East and may even have left the Playa. Heavy mud East of the launch area prevented an effective search. The rocket had marginal stability and, wind conditions were not ideal. Simulations indicated that it would hit Mach I at 250' and it continued in stable, horizontal flight after slowing in the turn. It seems likely that it suffered a "Mach Attack" with the increased frontal drag at transition exceeding the narrow margin of stability. We're going to try again with slightly larger fins at Mudrock 06.

Motors & Housings  We have a complete selection of RMS housings through 98-10240 which are available for loan to club members on a "you break it, you own it" basis. We don't haul all this stuff to every launch, but if you email us a few days before a launch, we could be talked into bringing a motor/housing for a Cert. flight or other special project.

Aeropac Launch Equipment We've concluded the 2007 season and are beginning to do some work on our equipment for 2008. This is the outline for winter equipment work.
