Grandfather & Tyler built Mostlymotor to
try for the J-impulse altitude record. It will use a J570 motor
and weighs a tad over 3 lbs. loaded. It has really small fins, It's
going to go really fast and if it doesn't wobble on the way out, it
should go over 18,000'. |
 |
Mostlymotor is a
minimum diameter fiberglass rocket. It has an outer layer of
polyester that is polished to a very smooth finish. It will fly with an
AltAcc2C with main deployment only. We will be using our Rocket Hunter
to help find this one because it's going to be up in the air a long
time.

Mostlymotor is stable, but with only a 1.1
caliber margin. This will be our first flight from a tower and we may
try to fly it at Mudrock. |

Tyler and Grandfather are working on a small rocket for a change.
They built a minimum diameter, 38mm fiberglass body with real small
fins. The fiberglass is skinned over with gel-coat and polished to a
micron finish. If it goes straight, it'll hit Mach I in .4 seconds at
250' and Mach II in less than 1 second at 1,000'. In other words, don't
watch the launch pad or you'll miss this one. We'll definitely be flying
our Rocket Hunter on this flight. We hope to fly this one from a Giant
Leap 4' tower at Black Rock.
