Baddabooster is a 4", minimum diameter fiberglass rocket 110" long, but is really the future booster for Baddaboom. The payload section of this rocket is designed to carry 18 lbs. of water. This section will simulate the drag and mass of Baddaboom and let us collect data for the two stage launch.    Baddabooster in the living room

The water in the payload bay will weigh over 200 lbs. during acceleration. The rear bulkhead has to be real strong and waterproof. The deployment charges also have to be waterproof so they are made from 30:30 brass soldered to pipe fittings. They seal through the bulkhead with threaded plastic fittings.

Baddabooster will fly with an M1939 motor attached to a Slimline mount. It will also be restrained by a length of coupler tube and a forward bulkhead. If all goes well, Baddabooster should get up to around 20,000'.            Rocksim flight graph

Baddabooster will have two AltAcc2C's in the avionics bay and will be firing two drogue and two main deployment charges to provide a redundant recovery system. We want to make sure the water makes a cloud in the air and doesn't come back inside the payload bay.                      Avionics bay
